This is a collaborative comic by myself and Pendleton Ward. Pen is best known for the TV show Adventure Time. We both have new series coming this year from Cartoon Hangover… Pen’s doing Bravest Warriors and I’m doing SuperF*ckers.

To Howl And To Hug
I’m really excited to present a furry morsel of my music from yesterday’s Adventure Time premiere, “Hug Wolf”. This particular piece accompanies the climactic showdown between *WOOP WOOP SPOILER* beta-hug-wolf Finn and his alpha rival.
I had a bunch of neat ideas to implement Finn’s fuzzy transformation in sound: burying 8bit NES synths in distortion, playing guitar with my girlfriend’s many fur coats, screaming into pillows… You probably already guessed which of these I went with. While it was no easy task to pluck guitar strings through a layer of fur, I did get the perfect sound: warm, woolly discomfort. For a fully charged grand finale hug-fest, I built a ruff, splintered beat that sounds like unrelenting static electricity. ZING!

So hours after we finished our first SuperF*ckers recording session on Thursday, James headed off to Santa Monica for a late night grocery store shoot. And delivered an inspired/inspiring performance, we should add.
I guess I’m an actor now.
While in LA working on the SuperF*ckers show I had one unscheduled evening. Never content to leave any block of time unproductive, and being a big fan of the show Co-op Stories, I asked if I could guest-star. This is the result. I hope you like it. I made up a bunch of dumb songs for it.
James is a total piece of work. And I mean that in a good way.
