TV and the internet provide viewers with the opportunity to binge watch their favorite programming, but, for book lovers binge reading is more complicated – with fans generally waiting a year or more between books in a series. That’s where Frederator Books comes in.
To help give kids/young adults more books in their favorite series quicker, industry multi-hyphenate and Frederator founder, Fred Seibert, partnered with book publishing veteran, David Wilk, and Publishing Director, Christy Mirabal, to create the unique digital only, all series e-book publishing venture Frederator Books. Targeted to readers 15-25-years-old, as well as publishing books for preschoolers, Frederator Books’ mission is to keep the magic of books alive and especially to preserve the unique relationship of readers to text in the digital age, while providing them with new titles on a regular basis. Fun, frequent and fast – and at a low cost per title too.
So, like episodic TV, there is minimal waiting between e-book titles from Frederator Books. In its first year Frederator Books published 20 original book titles across two successful books series, Catbug (11 titles), based on the character from Cartoon Hangover’s animated series Bravest Warriors, and author/illustrator Joey Album’s Lucy the Dinosaur (9 titles). These titles offer people the option of reading on their own or they can click on the read-to-me button and hear the story read aloud. The Catbug books read-to-me function features the voice of Sam Lavagnino, the 7-year-old boy who lends his voice to the Catbug on Cartoon Hangover’s Bravest Warriors.
Frederator Books will publish 60-80 new original titles in the next year, including two new Bravest Warriors series, The Strange Dog and The Transducer of Sometimes.
Frederator has teamed with, Vook, Inc., to distribute digital titles, which are available on all platforms, including Kindle, Nook, Apple iBooks, Sony Reader, and Kobo devices, as well as for the iPad.
Select Frederator Books e-book titles are also available via the family-centric FarFaria app.
Other upcoming Frederator Books activities to look our for, include a new short-form video series, The Zoe Showy, staring Frederator Books’ Zoe Barton.
